About RoboSoft Voices
RoboSoft is a series of six robotic voice variants from the SAPI4 speech synthesis ecosystem. Unlike the more human-sounding Microsoft and TruVoice engines, RoboSoft voices use extreme formant synthesis parameters to produce distinctively mechanical, synthetic speech.
Each of the six variants differs in default pitch, speed, and parameter range — from the deep, rumbling tones of RoboSoft One to the high-pitched rapid delivery of RoboSoft Four. This makes the series versatile for different creative applications: sci-fi narration, game characters, robotic dialogue, and experimental audio art.
The RoboSoft voices are particularly popular in retro computing communities and among creators looking for authentic machine-generated speech that sounds intentionally artificial rather than trying (and failing) to sound human.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about RoboSoft text to speech voices.
What are RoboSoft voices?
RoboSoft is a series of six robotic voice variants available in the SAPI4 speech synthesis engine. Each variant (RoboSoft One through Six) uses different pitch and speed parameters to create unique mechanical-sounding speech, ranging from deep rumbling tones to high-pitched rapid delivery.
What is the difference between the six RoboSoft variants?
Each RoboSoft variant has a different default pitch, speed, and parameter range. RoboSoft One has the lowest pitch (37-150), while RoboSoft Four has the highest (84-338). RoboSoft Three and Four also support faster speeds (up to 510) compared to the others (up to 390). This gives each variant a distinct robotic character.
Do I need to install anything to use RoboSoft TTS?
No! Our RoboSoft TTS tool runs entirely in your browser. Select a variant, type your text, adjust pitch and speed, then click Speak. You can also download the generated audio as a WAV file.
What can I use RoboSoft voices for?
RoboSoft voices are popular for sci-fi narration, game character dialogue, robotic sound effects, experimental audio art, meme videos, and any project requiring intentionally mechanical-sounding speech. Their distinctive synthetic quality makes them stand out from more natural-sounding TTS voices.
Are RoboSoft voices part of SAPI4?
Yes, RoboSoft voices are part of the SAPI4 (Speech Application Programming Interface version 4) ecosystem from Microsoft. They complement the core Microsoft voices (Sam, Mike, Mary) and TruVoice series with a distinctly robotic alternative.
